CALLED TO LEAD: UFM 4th National Convention by Mr. Warren T. Caballero

|
The UFM Central Mindanao District hosted the very successful 4th National Convention, which happened on May 27-29, 2008, having the Davao City Foursquare Gospel Church as the site of the convention. The Tagum and Davao City UFM joined forces together to plan and carry out this big event. The men of DCFGC expressed much excitement to meet and fellowship with the rest of the UFM in the country since this was the first time for them to host such kind of a national event. Every delegate received a kit of Black Bag including Souvenir Program, I.D, the meal ticket, Ball pen and a writing Pad. The name of the Lord, Jesus Christ, was surely lifted up as 504 registered delegates took time away from their respective work to come together in fellowship and prayer.

- The first night opened up with a 30-minute musical presentation with praise and worship, warm welcome by Rev. Daniel Feleo (host pastor), a tribal dance , and the very touching song rendition by the UFM Davao City Foursquare Gospel Church and the Living Temple Foursquare Gospel Church of Tagum entitled “We will Carry the Torch”. After the musical presentation, Rev. Delfin Corona , our CFGP General Supervisor, shared the Word of God and the Lord moved that night when most of the men came to the front during the altar call.
- On the 2nd day the delegates were treated to a free breakfast , lunch and dinner with unlimited free bananas courtesy of our brethren from The Living Temple Foursquare Gospel Church. The Flowing Coffee kept the men awake until the afternoon. Ptr. Michael Cook, Sowers International director came fresh from United States to challenge men to portray the agape kind of love in their family and workplaces. It was an interactive session as he allowed men to freely ask questions about his topic. The delegates and guests, mostly wives and children of CMD UFM plus members of neighboring churches, attended the night’s service and were inspired by Rev. Arnel Tan (HLBC alumni and DXFE Station Manager). His exhortation was so light yet it penetrated to our heart’s core as he emphasized God’s abounding grace when men come to Him in bended knees.
- The 3rd day brought the men (donning their beach attire) to an outdoor experience of fun, food and fellowship at Mergrande Ocean Resort. The delegates were both blessed and delighted as Bro. Gordon Green (Sowers International Ministries-Canada) encouraged us to be united as we take our responsibilities as Christian brothers. The event was interjected with heart-warming testimonies by some delegates , games and raffling of door prizes. We also had our sumptuous buffet graced with six heads of lechon , a relish of fresh tuna sashimi, and an abundance of Davao fruits. The Dihog Choral provided us music at the background while we raffled the major prizes. The rest of the afternoon was for the delegates to enjoy swimming and for picture taking. The registration table revealed 522 attendees out of the 504 delegates only to find out later, to our surprise, that the difference claimed the attendance of the wives and children who tagged along with some of the men. During the culmination night, the delegates, as well as the guests, were fully charged when Ptr. Cook demonstrated to us a transformed life in Jesus and as he challenged the men to bring two – unbeliever friends to the saving knowledge of the Lord, Jesus Christ. As we went deeper through the night, Pastor Delfin Corona led the men to commit their lives to become “the light” to their very own family, church and society during the candle-lighting ceremony. The night ended with the awarding of Plaques of Appreciation done by our convention chairman Mr. Ivan Caballero recognizing the contribution made by the guest speakers and the support of the local churches.

Indeed, the fellowship that we shared put us to a higher level of commitment to serve as ENLIGHTENED MEN dedicated to create a STRENGTHENED SOCIETY to bring GLORY , HONOR and PRAISE to our FATHER IN HEAVEN!
